Coming from a hockey hotbed like Trail, it seems only fitting
that a good portion of Steve Tambellinišs hockey career -- both on and off
the ice -- would be centered around another well-known B.C. hockey team, the
Vancouver Canucks.
Tambellini was a first-round draft pick of the NHL's New York Islanders. He
played parts of two seasons with the Islanders, including the 1979/80
campaign, where New York won the first of four consecutive Stanley Cups,
before moving on to the Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils, Calgary Flames
and Vancouver Canucks.

In his 10-year NHL career, Tambellini appeared in 553 games,
scoring 160 goals and adding 150 assists for 310 points. His penalty totals
were quite low, as he only logged a total of 105 minutes in the penalty box.
Tambellini has spent more than a decade with the Canucks, performing a
variety of off-ice duties. Tambellini also active in the community, serving
as President of the Canucks For Kids Fund.
In February 2002, Tambellini won an Olympic gold medal with Team Canada as
director of player personnel.
