Jim Robson's family moved to the Lower Mainland from Saskatchewan when
he was eight years old.
He got his first job in radio with CJAV in Port Alberni, where his
duties included play-by-play for the local high school basketball team.
A couple of years later he moved to Vancouver as the back-up man for
Bill Stephenson at CKWX.
When Stephenson moved to Toronto in 1960, Robson inherited the
triple-threat job of doing the play-by-play broadcasts for the CFL's
B.C. Lions, the Vancouver Mounties of the Pacific Coast Baseball League,
and the Western Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks. In 1961 Jim did a
total of 230 games in the three sports, in addition to high school boys
basketball, the B.C. Open golf tournament and high school track and
field.

Robson has covered the Canucks for the past 40 years (10 years longer
than the team has been in the NHL). At one time he did the jobs solo,
but in 1977, Tom Larscheid joined him in the booth, and the two have
been working together ever since.
Robson worked part-time with Hockey Night in Canada from 1970 to 1986 as
well as his full-time coverage of the Canucks.
Jim Robson is known throughout the hockey world as the consummate
professional and is an enduring symbol of excellence in sports
broadcasting.
Through the team's highs and lows over the past seasons, Jim Robson will
probably always be remembered as the voice of the Vancouver Canucks.
